School-Age Summer Camps in Hartford CT

June Camps

Spaced Out (Grades K to 2)
June 25th to June 29th, 9:00am to Noon
This far-out camp will show kids how to create out-of-this-world projects all while learning space facts and imagining what could be out there.

Go Green – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (Grades K to 2)
June 25th to June 29th, 1:00pm to 4:00pm
This environmentally friendly camp encompasses multi Media projects using household items and reusable Resources. We will Provide a list of items we may need for projects.

Beach Party (Grades 3 to 5)
June 25th to June 29th, 9:00am to Noon
Summer fun means beachtime! Kids will make beach themed crafts from flip-flops to towels, seashell mirrors and drink cozies. A great kickoff to the season.

Abstract Adventure (Grades 3 to 5)
June 25th to June 29th, 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Students will be influenced by master works and also create something completely on their own. They’ll explore painting, sculpture and multi-media to express themselves in abstract and non-objective pieces.

July Camps

Summer Sampler (Grades K to 5)
July 2nd to July 6th (No class 7/4)
This is a camp that gives kids a taste of different programs, subjects, themes, and mediums. The group is K-5; however, with enough enrollment, we will split into younger and older groups. You can enroll in one day or all days – Pick any 4 and receive the “week rate” – Materials fees are built in.
When registering, please be sure to specify AM or PM class. A week consists of any combo of 4 AM and/or PM classes.

Are you a wizard? Or just a Muggle – you may start out as a Muggle, but you’ll leave as a wizard after this fun week of everything Potter! From creating potions and wands to playing Quidditch – this wizardly week is for the Potter fan in all of us.

Mythical Creatures and Fantasyland (Grades K to 2)

Fairies, Mermaids, Trolls and Elves- so many fantastical creatures to learn about and create. Kids will use clay, paper, paint and most of all Imaginations to create amazing creatures, their environments and worlds and of course to tell their stories!

Never thought that you could paint? This fun filled week of painting is a dream come true! Use brushes, sponges, sticks and more, from patterns to pictures — lines to landscapes!

Fashion meets the Classroom while kids learn not just stringing beads but we will create our own as well. Bead making and pendants, learn about findings and clasp options, tool usage and adhesives. Sparkle and create!

Whether it’s slime, marbling, foam painting, or any host of science-based creativity – kids will enjoy having fun and getting messy in this interdisciplinary program.

Disney Magic (Grades K to 2)
July 30th to August 3rd, 9:00am to Noon
Whether it the princesses or a small world, we will explore the wonderful world of Disney magic with projects from classic movies to theme park rides. Even the Disney of the past with Steamboat Willie! We will create animation cells, characters sculptures and so much more. If you’ve been to a Disney park or are still dreaming of the day, this is the camp for you!

Comics, Cartoons & Caricatures (Grades 3 to 5)
July 30th to August 3rd, 9:00am to Noon
Caricatures and creating comic strips is what we will dive into in this comical week. Peanuts, Looney Toons, and our own imaginary friends will come to life as we learn to draw, tell stories, and express ourselves. No Manga or Anime will be covered, only the classics. If you have taken this camp before, please indicate as such on your registration form so we do not repeat the same images. Older kids will create more original characters and their own comic book. New this year – create an animation ‘cell’ like old time cartons were made of!

DIY Pinterest Creations (Grades 3 to 5)

Inpsiration abounds in this fun DIY Camp based on some great pintrest finds. Everything from Room Décor to wearables to just plain ART for arts sake. Something different every day!

The seas come alive in this aquatic adventure! Explore the world of Ocean Mammals and create your own Dolphin, Mosaic a Sea Turtle, and Decoupage a tropical Fish – the possibilities are endless.

Look at nature as a true artistic masterpiece; use a stick to paint, a nut to sculpt, a feather to create prints. See that a leaf is more than just a green shape. This awesome course will let you see the world through new eyes!

Get down and dirty in this full week of working with clay. We will work with several types of clay including clay native to our own Connecticut River! Prepare to be messy.

Creative Closet (Grades 3 to 5)

Learn the art of working with textiles. Kids will create tie-dye, faux screen-printing, batik and stamping. We will make our own tote bag from scratch and many accessories. A great camp to introduce anyone to the world of fashion and how to create your own look!

Whether your favorite girl is Saige or your Bitty Baby, this class will cover everything American Girl! We will make clothing, learn about historical periods and create all kinds of fun—from projects to adventures! Dolls are ‘welcome’ to class but only one per day. Dress yourself and your doll for a mess! (dolls can wait in cubbies until camp is over if they don’t want to get full of art!)

Ahoy Mateys – Step this way to the castle where kids will not only hear some classic tales but make creations based on what we hear! A visit to Neverland for an adventure with Captain Hook or make a pumpkin coach like Cinderella rode in!

Canvas Creations (Grades 3 to 5)

Not a paint night but a paint WEEK! Campers will create a new canvas creation each day step by step. Our first canvas will be a fun fish but the others will be up to the kids – we vote on Monday!

Signs of the Times (Grades 3 to 5)

Graphics and signage is a huge part of our everyday world! Learn some traditional design techniques from block printing to simple screen printing. We will make T-shirt, Logos, Posters and so much more.

Too Cool For School (Grades K to 2)

It’s almost that time – in this camp, kids will decorate lunch bags,  make coin purses, design their own “art class” smock, locker décor, and more!
