Director's Notes

It's time to get those snow pants out of storage (or at least out of the laundry from October's storm)! With winter weather comes that "cooped up" feeling kids get with the shorter daylight hours and less time to go outside and expend energy.

This makes it a perfect time to sign up not just for an art class - but for something totally different! If you have always taken out 2-D classes why not try a sculpture class to get creative juices flowing! IF you like a certain teacher and sign up with them time after time - try someone new - A new teacher is a great twist in continuing your education in the same medium and can help keep you on your toes creatively.

Parents - Make sure the kids absorb the world around them when it snows and the light is filtered in winters overcast. There is a small window of time to become familiar with freshly fallen snowy landscapes - and how the trees bend laden with heavy snow (if you have any limbs left!). Let the kids take a few pictures with your camera or phone and print them out so they can look at familiar landmarks in the yard covered with snow and observe the lines and shapes the snowdrifts can create around them.

Nature is the best artist and is constantly creating works we people can only aspire to recreate in other forms—Understanding natures beauty is essential and fun for the creative mind! So get outside, take some pictures, take a class and be creative this winter!

Closings are available on NBC Connecticut, TV Channel 30 and http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/ as necessary. Please check periodically when questioning due to inclement weather.

WE WILL BE CLOSED

Happy 2012 to all of our TA2Me family!

While we adjust to the cold weather once again (and cross our fingers the power STAYS on through the season) note that all weather cancellations and delays will be on NBC Connecticut. Typically if schools in Glastonbury are cancelled or delayed we are as well - but you know how it goes - they cancel school and by noon its bright and sunny so please always double check - we want to avoid as many make - up dates as possible!

In other News, we say goodbye to a couple of our staff that have been part of our family for quite a while. Ashley has left us to go back to school pursuing her degree in Art Therapy. Sharon has decided to begin her own business and Etsy Store where she will be selling her own work - we wish them both the best both personally and on their new ventures.

Lastly we sadly inform you that Squeek the studio cat has been Missing since October 4th. While at this point we still hold out some hope that he will be found we are considering the addition of a new studio cat - so if a little furry friend appears at some point this winter don't be surprised - its lonely here without our mascot! We miss Squeek terribly as I’m sure you do to.

The Cheeze!
by Cheezeburger, the studio turtle ...

Hi everyone! If we haven't already met I’m the studio turtle that you may have seen in the office lobby. I am here to keep waiters entertained before class and to add a little fun to our staffs day.

Many of you have asked where my name came from - well my very smart and creative owners knew that I was a "Red Eared Slider" and that "Sliders" are also little tiny burgers - so they decided that Cheezeburger was the perfect name for me. I have also been told that I resemble a Cheezeburger because of my yellow stripes and shell - but since I am a turtle and I’ve never seen a real Cheezeburger I will just have to take your word for it.

IF you are visiting my tank please don't throw crayons or markers or anything that people like in with me - I really only eat turtle food. If you would like to feed me please ask the staff - if I need a snack they will show you what to do!
